Intro Post
🐾 Puppy Foundations for a Lifetime of Good Manners – 5 Days
The first few months of a puppy’s life shape the dog they become.
Confidence, composure and responsiveness do not happen by chance — they are built through thoughtful early experiences.
Over the next five days, I’ll be sharing the same foundations I prioritise when supporting young dogs in structured puppy walks.
If you’d like to follow along, comment “FOUNDATIONS” below.
Notice:
No hype
No “free!!!”
Calm authority
Day 1 – Calm Before Exposure
🐾 Day 1 – Composure Comes First
Socialisation is often misunderstood as “meet everything”.
In reality, confidence develops when puppies feel safe and unhurried.
Today’s Practice:
Choose one quiet environment.
Allow your puppy to observe at their own pace.
No forcing greetings.
No overwhelming exposure.
Calm experiences build confident dogs.
Day 2 – Lead Skills Begin Immediately
🐾 Day 2 – Early Clarity Prevents Later Struggle
Puppies do not automatically understand how to walk on a loose lead.
Early habits become lifelong patterns.
Today’s Practice:
From the first walks:
Avoid allowing consistent pulling
Pause when the lead tightens
Move forward when slack returns
Gentle consistency now prevents frustration later.
Day 3 – Building Engagement
🐾 Day 3 – Teach Them You Matter
A puppy who chooses to check in with their owner develops stronger recall and focus over time.
Today’s Practice:
During your walk:
The moment your puppy looks towards you
Mark it calmly
Reward
Reinforce connection before distraction becomes more interesting.
Day 4 – Structured Social Experiences
🐾 Day 4 – Not Every Dog Is a Playmate
Allowing puppies to greet every dog can create over-excitement and frustration as they mature.
Today’s Practice:
Walk past another dog at a comfortable distance.
Reward calm behaviour.
Keep moving.
Controlled exposure develops social intelligence.
Day 5 – Quality Over Quantity
🐾 Day 5 – Measured Development
Puppies do not need long walks.
They need carefully managed experiences that build:
✔ Confidence
✔ Lead manners
✔ Engagement
✔ Emotional stability
Early foundations reduce behavioural issues during adolescence.
If you value structured, professionally managed puppy walks designed to build these standards from the outset, you’re welcome to message me for availability in [Area].
Follow-Up Premium Positioning Post
Post 2–3 days later:
The difference between a chaotic adolescent and a composed adult dog often lies in the first six months.
I work with a limited number of puppy households to ensure each young dog receives calm, structured and developmentally appropriate support.
If you would like to discuss whether my puppy walking service is suitable for your dog, feel free to message me directly.
Notice:
“Limited number” signals selectivity
“Suitable” suggests screening
No discounting
No urgency pressure

A Note on The Dog House, Professionalism & Purpose
This space is written on one clear assumption:
you are a professional, not a casual pet lover with a lead and some spare time.
The Dog House exists because pet care, when done properly, is skilled work. It involves responsibility, judgement, boundaries, risk management, and decision-making — often under pressure and without applause.
Caring deeply does not mean operating loosely.
In fact, the more you care, the more structure you need.
You are allowed to:
• Treat your role as a profession, not a favour
• Expect clients to respect your time, policies, and expertise
• Put systems in place that protect your energy as well as your income
• Talk openly about boundaries, burnout, and business realities
• Acknowledge that loving animals does not mean tolerating poor behaviour from people
• Build a business that fits around your life, not one that consumes it
The Dog House is not about being harsh, cynical, or closed-off.
It is about being clear, grounded, and realistic.
Clarity reduces conflict.
Structure reduces stress.
Professionalism protects everyone — including the animals.
This space is here to support you in doing this work well, ethically, and sustainably, for the long term.
Because pet care businesses built on clarity and self-respect don’t just get by — they last.
